To celebrate the beginning of the dark nights we ran a magical event – ‘Light Into Night’. We all got together and made a fire in New Hope park for people to gather round. We lit the park with LED lights and candles and Glue Collective made shadow puppets while the children toasted marshmallows at the fire.
The event featured a found sound and spoken word piece created by young people at Chandos Primary School, collaborative music-making led by Natalie Mason and Beth Hopkins (Multicultural Music Making) with special guests Zenab and Yafa, shadow puppetry led by Faith Pearson, Glue Collective, Willow and Fireside fun with Helen Murie, Birmingham Open Space Forum. It was very special night and we’re looking forward to whatever we cook up together with the community next.
Home in Highgate has run some great events throughout summer and autumn seasons Following our youth summer programme at the end of August we had a great event at New Hope Park along with our partners, where people played music, got involved in drawing activities, made dens, ate together and just had a great time. So much so, that everyone asked when would we do it again, and again, so our next event will be Thursday 19th December 2024 with Stanhope Wellbeing Hub – look out for more details soon.
